it doesn't happen o v e r n i g h t
in this sport, things take time. it takes years to become consistent and competitive at this game, which is often the hardest thing to accept. you can think you are as prepared as you can possibly be; you have a horse you trust, a trainer that knows you inside and out, and feel confident. and you can walk into the ring just a tad nervous, and fall apart. and days like that are going to happen. its just the name of the game. you've been at it for 2 years, them for 10. each day little things get better and better, the nerves lessen. but the truth is, you're going to make mistakes. and you just have to get up, and keep going. because one day, it IS going to fall perfectly into place.
but you turn around and a month's g o n e b y
sometimes, everything can become overwhelming. everything is constantly changing at the speed of light, and all of a sudden, all this time has passed. it's crazy to think three months ago, you hadn't jumped a water jump in your life. crazy to think three months ago how differently you rode, how differently your horse rode. and so much has changed since then, habits erased, mistakes learned from, and how now you can walk into the ring, and own a course. but all this improvement, it didn't happen in an hour or a day, it took time. it's still taking time. it will always take time, and even if you don't see drastic improvements day in and day out, when you think back, everything has gotten better, even if you don't want to recognize it within yourself.
and you realize, you haven't c r i e d
at one point, you cried yourself to sleep every single night over something related to this sport. at one point, nothing was going your way, everyone you relied on was gone and not coming back anytime soon, you didn't know what was going to happen with your horses, or where you'd be in a month's time. and everyone just told you to trust them. and for once you did, and it brought the best experience of your life, one you'll never have to walk away from again. you haven't cried, because for once, you stopped trying to control things, and just let it happen. and maybe that's the way to go, because sometimes, you just have to roll with the punches and make the best out of everything you have, because in reality, things always turn out much better than you ever expect.
i'm not giving you a hour or a second or another minute l o n g e r
there are going to be a ton of people in your life that will try to tear you down. they'll tell you that you're worthless, that you're not good enough, anything to get into your head and completely mess with your way of thinking. the battle with yourself, and your thoughts, and all the stress is far harder than anything else in this world. you are your own worst enemy. you can tear yourself down easier than anyone could ever do. if you listen and believe all of the negatives that everyone says about you, then there is no possible way that you can achieve anything in this world. it is important to always think positive, no matter how awful things are. because i promise... it does get better. so surround yourself with people who pick you up instead of tear you down. you have to do what is best for you, not anyone else.
i'm busy getting s t r o n g e r
no one deserves tears. no one deserves heart ache. no one deserves to be told that they aren't good enough or that they can't achieve something. if you put your mind to it, and you work as hard as you possibly can towards that goal, then you will get it. hard work does in fact get noticed and you will be rewarded it. but even though no one deserves all of the hardships and horrors in their life... they are going to happen. pain is ineviteable but suffering is optional. everyday you are getting stronger. even on your weakest day, you are getting stronger and stronger. everything that goes wrong in your life isn't meant to destroy you... its there to make you a better and stronger person. and if theres ever a time where you feel like you can't hold on any longer, just keep pushing. i promise it will work out in the end.
