Modifying featureless, imported CAD parts can feel like a dead end, but SOLIDWORKS has a powerful "non-traditional workaround: Direct Editing.

Using the Move Face and Delete Face commands, you can bypass the feature tree entirely. These tools untrim the surrounding geometry, patch up adjacent faces, and let you shift or remove design elements on the fly, even on completely imported files. Best of all, these edits create their own history in your feature manager, so you can easily roll back or tweak your changes later!
