Hero Bans were meant to add strategy and adaptability to Overwatch 2, but in the lower ranks this season, something else entirely has taken over: emotional banning. In this video, I dive into how players in Bronze through Plat are repeatedly banning the same heroes—Sombra, Freja, Zarya, etc.—not because they’re actually strong on certain maps, but simply because they’re annoying or widely disliked.
We’ll explore why this happens, how I’ve personally fallen into the same trap, and what we as players can do to make smarter, more strategic use of the ban system moving forward. This is a conversation the community needs to start having if we want the ban system to thrive.
