You likely have an extensive collection of warm-up exercises saved, and I can relate to that because I've gathered my fair share as well.

With the multitude of warm-up variations available, it's easy to feel overwhelmed when deciding which ones to include in your routine.

This is why some people opt for the shortcut of copying an entire warm-up routine.

However, I don't believe this is a wise approach.

It's like driving a rental car every day without bothering to adjust the seat – neither safe nor comfortable.

So, why would you do that?

In my opinion, the warm-up is possibly the most crucial part of a workout that should be tailored to your specific needs.

Wondering why? Because it directly influences what follows.

The “copy-paste” method isn't effective in the long run for several reasons:

1 - Our bodies don't feel the same every day. Some days, we might require more attention to warming up our wrists or a particular range of spinal flexion. On other days, we may feel a bit sluggish and want to rev up our central nervous system.

2 - The duration of a warm-up can vary based on factors like climate and temperature.

3 - Generally speaking, it takes more time to warm up as we age.

So, the next time you come across a warm-up routine, consider this approach:

• Cherry-pick the elements that resonate with you.
• Give them a try.
• Keep what works for you, and don't hesitate to discard the rest.

The practice goes on, my friends.
I appreciate you.
