The Clay Mills sewage pumping station is another of England's National Treasures. It is arguably one of the most complete steam driven municipal pumping stations in the world behind Wouda Stoomgemaal. Five original Lancashire boilers, 4 original Gimson beam engines and scores of auxiliary engines still steam in a complete and undisturbed Victorian engine house.
The fourth out of four main engines is being restored and so far two of the original five boilers are in service with a third on the way. Please support this place.
