When I was a kid (aeons back it seems) my Christmas Stocking always contained a new hairbrush, toothbrush, flannel and sponge, plus the obligatory satsuma in the toe. I was easily pleased...
There is something nice about using a brand new washcloth though, and this simple crochet pattern is quick to hook up you can create a stack of them in an evening. Start by working doubles into a ring of chain stitches and then build up the crochet square with rows of half trebles, changing the colour of yarn at regular intervals.
