These stinging ants seem somewhat reserved at first, but once they begin to outnumber and overpower the fly, they are able to grip the fly with their pinchers and drive their stingers deep into the fly's soft parts. After several powerful stings, the fly's ability to resist the attack is compromised. More bites, more stings, and the fly is soon paralyzed.
