The Megacut range of STIHL pruning saws is our signature range and offer a great choice for those looking to quickly and precisely saw branches of a variety of types. There are three Megacut pruning saws available and in this video, we’ll discuss all 3 types.
First up in the range is the straight saw blade version which consists of the STIHL PR 24 and PR 33 pruning saws. The PR 24 has a 24 cm saw blade and can saw through branches with a width of up to 10 cm. The STIHL PR 33 has a 33 cm saw blade and can saw through branches with a width of up to 15 cm. The straight saw blades of both these pruning saws are designed for pruning branches in line with your body. They can be used universally in horticulture, landscaping, as well as in construction and are perfect for pruning branches and shrubs.
Next, is the curved saw blade version, which consists of the STIHL PR 27 C and PR 33 C. The PR 27 C pruning saw has a 27 cm curved saw blade and can saw through branches with a width of up to 12 cm. The STIHL PR 33 C has a 33 cm curved saw blade and can saw through branches with a width of up to 15 cm in diameter. The curved saw blade of these pruning saws makes them perfect for sawing over your head or below your waist and they are great partners for arborists and tree maintenance work.
Both the straight and curved blade pruning saws have three-sided Japanese teeth made from chrome plated steel which is resistant to corrosion. They also have a soft, ergonomic handle for comfort during use. And what’s more, both saws come with a holster for mounting on either the left or right hip of the user, so they are suitable for both left and right-handed users.
The final STIHL Megacut pruning saw is the more affordable PR 32 CW which comes with a beechwood handle for increased grip. It has a tempered carbon steel 32cm curved saw blade with clustered teeth that have clearing slots to prevent jamming during use. The carbon steel blade of this pruning saw makes for extremely quick sawing of all types of branches with a width of up to 15 cm.
Another STIHL pruning saw is the PR 16 Handycut. This pruning saw can fold up for storage and safe transport whilst working, which makes it a great partner for tree maintenance work when up high. It has a 16 cm conical blade with three-sided Japanese teeth, and is made from chrome plated steel which is resistant to corrosion. It’s perfect for light pruning jobs and cutting through thinner branches and shrubs with a width of up to 6.5 cm.
