Of all the patterns seen throughout history, the revolution is one of the most often repeated storylines seen throughout fiction. Though what does that mean in the real life context of rebelling against an unjust system, can a piece of fiction help provide an example of a successful rebellion to aspire to? In this video essay, I analyze the themes of rebellion found within the show Steven Universe, and discuss how the characters, plot, and even the show itself; highlight the ways we can rebel against injustice and hatred in our everyday lives.
