Legal efforts to disburse the $1 million estate of 1 October gunman Stephen Paddock to the families of those killed by the gunfire took a big step forward.
A stipulation to dismiss a lawsuit, with prejudice, was submitted in U.S. District Court, ending a class action against Slide Fire, the company that manufactured the bump stocks used by the gunman allowing his semi-automatic rifles to function as if they were fully automatic.
According to Alice Denton, the probate attorney handling disbursement of Paddock’s estate to the victims, Slide Fire had also agreed to end a creditor’s claim on the estate, which Denton says should have cleared the way to begin distributions, but there is still one lawsuit still on the table against Slide Fire.
