Voltage regulator AMS1117 is very small, very usefull.
Give linear output for some device , like DIY board

But we must understand, dont overcurrent, overcload this chip, dont short make chip suddenly damage

Like Arduino Nano and Arduino Uno using AMS 1117 for 5 Volt DC
ESP32, Lolin, Wemos, ESP8266 chip using 3.3V DC

Specially 3.3V DC, from other chip model, vulnerable to damage from short circuit

Make sensor cant work in ESP8266 board, because lose power voltage 3.3V
Pin 3.3 V only 1.2V output for sensor Arduino, sensor 3.3V cant working.

On Arduino, usually the board death. Because voltage regulator has broken
Ypu can repair Arduino and ESP8266, with check input power and output power.
If output already gone, suspect chip regulator not working

Before removing the board, try to check the voltage regulator like AMS1117

00:00 Marking chip
Voltage regulator AMS1117
00:8 Arduino Nano 5V
Arduino Nano using 5V main power
But have 3.3V DC for output power for sensor
00:21 Arduino Uno 5V
The same Arduino Nano, Arduino Nano have 5V voltage regulator with AMS1117 5
00:29 Diagram AMS1117
Test diagram connection AMS 1117
Have 1 input, 1 output and 1 pin for ground (-)
Range input AMS 1117 5V
Minimum 4.5 VDC, Maximum 12V (recommendation)
Output stable, depend the IC voltage, example 3.3 is 3.3V Linear output
If label show 1.5V, output linear 1.5V.
Chip AMS1117 need capacitor
The best stable output, using Tantalum capacitor 10uf
Other can use standar cap, 1 10uf capacitor, output can add 100uf.
00:43 Diagram output
Using AMS1117 current input vs input voltage not linear
Low voltage can give the current output up 500mA
But higher voltage example 12V input, current voltage output will drop up to 10%.
00:49 AMS1117 module
Other choice, for single using AMS1117 chip
Make in module device. Provide input and output power
01:00 Test output 3.3V
In video we test stable output 3.3V from AMS1117 module board
Start from 5V DC source USB power
12V source power from adaptor to 3.3V DC
Varibel source power range 6V - 7V from battery

01:37 Repair Arduino Nano
One problem from Arduino board like Arduino Nano
If output power reserve like put positive to negative output
Can damage the sensor, include one voltage regulator voltage.
Arduino Nano have 3.3V output for sensor
If sensor not work, check output 3.3V
If output power not 3.3V, and Arduino Nano 3.3V pin only show 1.2V
Sometimes the chip voltage regulator is broken.
You can replace with AMS1117 chip, and give 3.3V DC output
02:28 ESP8266 repair
NodeMCU like Lolin board, if something wrong, like wrong wire
The board ESP8266 can broken
Can damage trace board, include regulator chip AMS1117.
First, make sure the trace PCB board is good
If cut off, you must connect where the line on board broken.
Usually we can trace, and look black dot pin
Replace broken AMS1117 chio
And jumper the line like 3.3V, 5, and Ground pin.

Varian chip voltage regulator AMS1117 f 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.0 V, 2.5 V, 2.85 V, 3.3 V, 5.0 V, 12 V . (Linear) and Adj (adjustable)
