Relief woodcarving can be kinda difficult with certain subjects, and scrolls, flags and banners are certainly part of that difficult group (in my mind anyway). Hopefully with these step by step instructions on carving scrolls you'll be able to start making them yourself!

This book stand was made with some tools I won recently from a fellow traditional YouTube woodworker called Lemongrasspicker. I received some beautiful Japanese chisels, a marking gauge and Beert De Weerts book Risen from Rust.
Using these tools Ive made a book stand which comes together with sliding dovetails and a lap joint. A fairly simple looking project with some interesting joinery.

I had a commission come in for a plaque to go on a little girls bedroom door. The client wanted the words Rosas room carved in as well as a butterfly and flower of my own design. This was a very enjoyable project and quite freeing considering I could be kind of artistic and spontaneous with the flower relief carving.
