The Stellar Blade discourse is back... and somehow it's even more ridiculous this time. Following the reveal of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, social media has exploded with controversy surrounding the new protagonist, Evie. Some critics are claiming the character looks underaged.
In this video, I break down the backlash, the accusations being thrown around online, and why it feels like Stellar Blade continues to attract some of the most bizarre criticism in modern gaming. We've seen this before with Eve. Now it's happening again with Evie.
At what point do we stop attacking developers for simply creating characters that don't fit Western expectations? And why does it seem like South Korean and other East Asian developers receive a completely different standard of criticism than everyone else?
Let's talk about Stellar Blade, Blood Rain, Shift Up, the character debate, and the never-ending culture war surrounding this franchise.
What do you think? Is the criticism of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain legitimate, or is this another example of people looking for reasons to be offended?
