On September 22nd 2016, the Lexus UX Concept was unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, revealing Lexus’ plans for a compact SUV to redefine the SUV segment.

Stefan Rasussen - an exterior designer at ED2,The Lexus European Design Centre - can be seen sketching the 4x4 whilst discussing the inspiration and reasoning behind its innovative features.

Stefan comments, “our brief was to create a new genre of compact crossover; a vehicle that could progress the user experience and create something unique from a customer’s point of view - an innovative, three-dimensional, fully immersive user experience.”

Stefan notes that inspiration for the vehicle came from many sources, but was mainly drawn from the key phrases representing the character of the car: 'Robust Yet Agile' and 'In and out styling concept'.

The UX Concept uses forward thinking technologies to provide occupants a fully immersive, 3-D driving experience, that’s ideal for the ever-connected customer. The UX Concept also introduces the powerful inside out design concept and deconstructed interior styling, as a strong synergy is created between the vehicle's exterior and interior design.

Further features include the driver’s instrument binnacle (which is home to a holographic floating globe) and the kinetic seat technology, which uses radical fibre net construction to create Lexus’ most comfortable seat yet.
