Steel Across America
This week, the Los Angeles Fire Department was honored to welcome Steel Across America, a nationwide memorial tour featuring an authentic steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Organized by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the tour serves as a moving tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11 while helping educate future generations about the sacrifices made that day. The Foundation was established in honor of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who gave his life after running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel with more than 60 pounds of gear to respond to the attacks at the World Trade Center.
Steel Across America honors the 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, EMS personnel, military members, civilians, survivors, and the families forever impacted by September 11.
As this piece of history travels across America, it reminds us that the courage, sacrifice, and unity displayed on 9/11 will never be forgotten.
