Valve recently announced their new Steam Machine coming to market in early 2026. The new Steam Machine is Valve's second attempt at making a console form factor PC for the living room. Linux gaming has come a very long way over the last few years. Most Steam Games are now compatible with Linux. The new Steam Machine has the potential to be a real game changer and revolutionize the gaming industry. This could be huge for gamers. The Steam Machine will provide all the benefits of PC gaming with the convenience of console gaming. It’s essentially a compact living-room gaming PC (a console-style box) running SteamOS 3. Designed as part of a broader Valve hardware initiative — alongside the Steam Frame (VR headset) and a new Steam Controller — all launching in early 2026.
Valve claims it’s over six times more powerful than the Steam Deck, targeting 4K 60 fps gaming (via upscaling like FSR) and even ray tracing.
