Valve's new Steam Frame headset is heavily hyped, but can it truly compete with the Meta Quest 3? In this video, we do a reality check on the rumored $1299 price tag, the state of wireless PCVR, and whether it's worth double the cost? I keep seeing one specific comment on m,y socials: "The Steam Frame won't save VR." With the confirmed specs, my hands on and the reality of the market, I have to agree. With rumors pointing to a price tag over $1000, this headset is going to cause a debate—very similar to what we just saw with the Steam Machine.
In this video I wanted to discuss the upcoming Valve Steam Frame from an enthusiast's perspective. While it’s shaping up to be the most comfortable headset on the market and an brilliant wireless PCVR headset, the specs show it's super comparable to Meta Quest 3 visually.
It may also launch without a PCVR or standalone game and PCVR is struglling. If Valve doesn't drop a surprise software launch alongside it, most buyers will just be playing the library they already own.
Hardcore VR enthusiasts will buy the Steam Frame on day one and I am one of thme. I want comfort and low-latency foveated streaming. But everyday Quest 3 owners are going to be left wondering: is it actually worth the potentially huge price?
