Statistics South Africa has released its latest Governance, Public Safety and Justice Survey. The statistics provide a clearer picture of crime from the perspective of ordinary South Africans. The statistics reveal a high degree of mistrust and lack of faith in the country’s police services. The survey reveals gaps in crime reporting from households. It also shows that, often, more than half of incidents go unreported. Action Society Chief Operating OfficerJuanita Du Preez says South Africans continue to live in fear of crime.
