From his home in Northern Virginia, ASA Executive Director Ron Wasserstein shares a Statistical Moment highlighting two important consensus studies from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine that speak directly to the future of the statistical profession.

He spotlights “Frontiers in Statistics in Science and Engineering 2035 and Beyond,” chaired by Kathy Ensor (Rice University) and co-chaired by Lance Waller (Emory University), which explores emerging opportunities, challenges, and the evolving role of statistics across disciplines.

Wasserstein also highlights “Data and Computing in K–12 Education: Foundational Competencies,” chaired by Nicholas Horton (Amherst University), emphasizing the essential skills students need to build a strong pipeline for future careers in statistics and data science.
