ASA Executive Director Ron Wasserstein reports from the National Science and Technology Medals Foundation Laureate Celebration Gala in Washington, DC. This event honors recipients of the National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation and celebrates the extraordinary individuals who have made groundbreaking contributions to science, technology, and human health.


Among the honorees is Dr. Emery N. Brown, Edward Hood Taplin Professor of Medical Engineering and Computational Neuroscience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a longtime ASA member. A physician-statistician whose research has transformed our understanding of anesthesia, Brown's work has led to safer, more effective methods of administering anesthetics, in turn saving lives and advancing care.
