Don’t worry about “heavy” just yet, let me clarify…
This question is so common and in my LIFT program I’ve made it my MISSION to really help women understand how to approach the sport of weight lifting - safely and effectively.
Thinking about how heavy the weight “should” be and how many reps is “ideal” is sort of like getting onto a soccer pitch having never played the sport before and asking the coach how many goals you need to score.
Learn to play the game first. In weight lifting, form always comes before load. And yes, to really practice correct form you need to have enough weight to challenge it - in this video I give guidelines for what to focus on.
