There's a cool series of glitches you can perform at the beginning of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in order to get past the bridge gate AND get yourself an Ordon Sword and Hylian Shield.
First what you wanna do is grab a big rock. Then place that big rock in front of the two pink flowers at the gate by the bridge. Face to the left so that Link is standing with the rock immediately to his right, and the door even more to the right.
Then hold L and hop to the right toward the middle of the door. If the rock was in the correct place, you will land inside the middle of the door. Now roll into the middle of the door and there's a good chance you'll pop out on the other side onto the bridge.
And that's cool on its own, but if you want to get the Ordon Sword and the Hylian Shield to start the game, walk to the other end of the bridge and hang from the edge on your left side.
Now you'll need to press A and RIGHT on the D-PAD on the same frame. The easiest way to do that is to unplug your GameCube controller, then hold A and RIGHT on the D-PAD as you plug it back in.
This will cause Link to fall as your map opens. Now tap B once to zoom out on the map. Now hold X, START, and B in that order to soft reset. This will cause you to have control of Link on the Title Screen!
If you press any buttons, the Title Screen thingy shows up. So don't do that. Instead, just walk off the ledge until the screen fades to black. When you reappear on the bridge again, you can press Start and save your game.
Now load up that save file and you will be in the Faron Woods with the Ordon Sword, the Hylian Shield, and you can call Epona!
You may have to use Epona to clip yourself back through the other side of the gate to continue the game. What I did was back Epona right up to the gate, then I did a leaping slash at an angle to land back "inside" the door. Then I rolled into the middle of the door and popped out on the other side.
