One of the problems I run into when I sit down in my art studio, is overwhelm. Supplies, environment, feelings, life. It ends up paralyzing me, and before I know it, I’m not creating, I’m avoiding.
I started and stopped this page so many times. But, I wanted to play, have fun, so this time, instead of letting it keep me from creating, I decided to turn the page, do the simplest of things - journal. Then I started a few more. I took the pressure off from having to finish. Then I came back, and added to it, in bits and pieces.
The cool thing is, if you don’t like where it ends up, throw some gesso over it and start over. This isn’t class, there’s no bell ringing that time’s up. That’s the beautiful thing, only you get to decide when you’re done.
I believe that sometimes you just have to take the work out of artwork, so that you can just enjoy the art. The point was to have fun with it, do the things you love.
All you got to do to get there, is start.
Mixed media art is a feeling. Don't deprive yourself of sitting down and enjoying these moments. Just start.
