Will Starlink ruin Astrophotography forever? Is the night sky doomed to dystopian proportions? Does Elon Musk hate kittens? Will OneWeb be an inescapable earthtrap? It's easy to focus on the negatives--Even easier to ignore the science and just hype, panic, or get hysterical about change. I've got a nice balanced video here, Someone both very much in favor of the underlying technology and the purpose of worldwide broadband, but also someone who adores the night sky.
Can we strike a balance? Starlink and OneWeb, one in full force, will cause some huge wins and also some losses. Astronomy and #Astrophotography are NOT doomed, far from it. In fact, in some cases, it might even be BETTER in a fully connected world.

Anvil Crawlers are a type of lightning that crawls the sky in the, you guessed it anvil of the thunderstorm. This is an area where upper level winds have sheered off the top of the Cumulo Nimbus cloud. They are full of tiny ice crystals moving at different speeds, creating static charge. The anvil of a storm covers hundreds of square MILES and is usually around 40 to 50 THOUSAND feet above ground. When this static builds up, it is released over a massive area of the sky, filling even the widest angle lenses with incredible lightning displays for your camera to enjoy. Even better at high speed!
