The Delta-Class DX9 Transport.
Despite being nicknamed the "Stormtrooper Transport", due to its common use with the Galactic Empire for ferrying their infantry to targets in space and on the ground, the delta class transport is a common sight throughout the galaxy. Even the rebel alliance utilizes the transport in substantial numbers. An excellent utility craft, the transport is adequately capable for many roles. Armed with eight laser cannons, four ion cannons, and two missile launchers, the delta class transport, while simplistic and far from a pretty ship, is a monster when it comes to combat capability. Shielding rivaling vessels twice its mass ensured the delta transport could always guarantee the safety of its passengers and cargo. However, extremely poor manuerverability forces ito to require fighter escort during true combat operations.
Produced in large numbers, the delta transport has been purchased or captured by a large number of factions, not just the Galactic Empire, showing up in the fleets of the rebel alliance, black sun, local governments, mercenaries, and pirates in seemingly equal numbers.
The DX-9 has proven so reliable that then-Vice Admiral Thrawn relied upon it for all personal transportation needs during his time aboard the his flagship the Victory class Star Destroyer Stalwart.
