OLD GAME ALERT! Both of these games are very rough to play in 2025. Even in 1997, I would've said these games are so mechanically flawed, because that is the year Starfox 64 released, which is a MASSIVE upgrade that combined elements of both of these games into something truly spectacular.
Starfox (1993): Visually a great game and it looks to contain most of the iconic pieces of the Starfox series. I can see there are 3 companions, notable designs for enemies, rings to fly into, armor, and a boost mechanic. Even the 2 maps I played on have that classic feeling of Starfox design. But unfortunately the game is super laggy and the movement is not crisp, so trying to do anything seems to be a hassle. I like how this very first game gives options for routes when starting the game, because that adds to replayability.
Starfox 2 (Designed in 1995 but released in 2017): The design of this game looks to be very unique, combining the action of a Starfox game's individual levels with the strategy of a turn based game on the main map. Sadly this game has a huge problem with running at a decent frame rate and also has really hard to use controls.
