I finally spent time with Star Wars Outlaws on PS5, and the best way I can describe it is this: Star Wars meets Assassin’s Creed—and that’s not a bad thing.
Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, you play as Kay Vess, a capable but naïve scoundrel navigating the galaxy’s underworld with the help of her adorable companion, Nyx. The cities feel alive, the presentation is often stunning, and the story fits comfortably into established Star Wars canon.
That said, the experience isn’t without frustrations. Empty open worlds, repetitive stealth, odd control choices, and a punishing final battle held this one back for me. While I focused mostly on the story missions, the reputation system and side content didn’t fully land—and sometimes actively got in the way of fun.
Despite its flaws, I still enjoyed my time with Star Wars Outlaws… right up until the end.
