The Alliance Council has learned about the destruction of Jedha by the new Imperial super weapon - the Death Star - a weapon capable of destroying an entire planet. It’s possible the Death Star has a weakness and the plans containing that weakness are located at the Imperial Center of Military Research on the planet Scarif. After heavy debate, the Council voted not to approve the mission given its uncertainty, the possibility of a trap, and likelihood of failure.
A group of rebels calling themselves Rogue One think this is a mistake and intend to take matters into their own hands. Using a captured Zeta-class shuttle, they fly to Scarif with the goal of sneaking into the Citadel and recovering the plans themselves.
Can they get the secret plans themselves or will the Empire stop them in time?
