Chained Echoes is a game that I initially had no plans to play. In late 2022, I was busy with a load of other titles, and couldn’t see myself fitting it in. But that was when everybody on the planet wouldn’t stop talking about it, which lead to a serious case of FOMO. Yup, I was not about to miss out on this one, and I am so glad I didn’t, because Chained Echoes, was by far, the surprise packet of the year.
Chained Echoes is inspired, and pays clear tribute to the games we loved in the past, such as Suikoden, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI and Xenogears. From the visuals to the combat, to the music, to the story beats, to the mechanics. It’s almost as if this game was specifically tailored to me. And this is what makes Chained Echoes so easy to recommend, to every JRPG fan of the 90s and early 2000s.

Beyond Galaxyland is the perfect example of RPGs not having to be huge in order to be fun, solid experiences. This Sci-Fi, planet hopping RPG was developed by Sam Enright and is a followup to his first title, “The Greater Good” released in 2018.
If you’re after a nostalgic retro, turn-based RPG experience, that does not waste your time, with space travel and a gun wielding guinea pig, then Beyond Galaxyland should not be missed.

It would be very difficult to find an Indi-developer with a better track record that Supergiant games. In fact, you’ll be hard pressed to find any development company with such a stellar catalogue. Sure, they have only released four titles so far, but each one of them has been met with critical acclaim.
Bastion was the first, released all the way back in 2011. It was praised for its beautiful presentation, well written narration, and excellent music, and it’s hard to argue with that!
Bastion has been on my to do list for a while now, and I finally played through it in just a few sittings. It is a very solid Action RPG that is full of charm, and is the perfect example of why Supergiant Games are freakin magicians! Watch this review so find out why!

Most of the time, I have very little confidence when it comes to licensed games, especially licensed RPGs. When Hogwarts Legacy was first announced, I naturally had my doubts. But it was hard for me NOT to be excited about Hogwarts Legacy, since I really do like the Harry Potter series. The footage that has been gradually drip fed to us over the past couple of years, kept on stepping it up a gear, and it got to the point, where it looked too good to be true.

I recently played through the entire Star Ocean series, and at the time, a complete remake of Star Ocean 2 was the last thing I expected. While I did enjoy the original Star Ocean: The Second Story (On PS1), I also found a lot of issues with it, such as the dependence of walkthroughs, the random encounters, dungeon backtracking, and spammy combat.
The good news is, the Star Ocean: The Second Story R development team knew EXACTLY what they were doing.
This is a near perfect remake. If you’re a Star Ocean 2 fan, you will LOVE what they’ve done here. If you’ve never played the original before, THIS is the version that you should be playing.
