Star Fox Command Was the True Evolution of Star Fox 2
While many fans remember Star Fox 64 as the definitive Star Fox experience, Command took the series in a very different direction. The game expanded on Star Fox 2’s strategic map system, allowing players to manage multiple pilots, defend planets, intercept enemies, and make meaningful decisions across the Lylat System.
It wasn’t just another on-rails shooter.
It was a hybrid of strategy, dogfighting, and resource management that felt incredibly ambitious for a Nintendo DS game.
Was it perfect? No.
The stylus controls remain divisive to this day.
But looking back, Star Fox Command may have been the closest Nintendo ever came to fully realizing the vision that began with Star Fox 2.
