This is a re-upload of a video originally posted Aug. 6, 2014 which has had the music swapped out for the copyright free variety.

I used to draw a lot of stories comic book style when I was a kid. For some reason Star Battle is the one that survived and continued to have chapters added to it as I grew up and my art style evolved. Now I've decided to use my current skills as a video editor to animate this first Star Battle tale, a mix of crude childhood drawings and more modern special effects that is probably only amusing to me. About 100 hours of production time went into this short at the rate of about 30 minutes every couple of days over the last year when I had time between full-time work and kids.

Star Battle was obviously inspired in name and design by Star Wars but also Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Atari games and anything else that went into my consciousness as an 8 year old kid. The base ships all look like the Death Star and the dogfights were inspired by all of the above.

Part 2 was completed for most part in 2014 shortly after Part 1 but it took me until 2021 to finally finish it up.
