As the COVID-19 lockdown continues in Pakistan, millions of daily wage workers struggle to make a living. This observational film provides a snapshot of street vendors, garbage collectors, donkey cart drivers, laborers, and stray animals as life has come to a standstill.

I shot this film in Karachi between April 10–24,2020 during my time with Akhuwat Foundation. I stayed at Akhuwat's NJV School in Sadar for two weeks to capture stories for VIGA—A Project of Akhuwat. Currently, VIGA Organization is raising funds to provide relief to the most vulnerable segment of society during the COVID-19 crisis.

During those two weeks, I followed Akhuwat on their meal and ration distribution drives many times and witnessed how hundreds of meal packs were gone within minutes. Every day, when I was out for a walk on the street I saw how badly daily wage workers and laborers were hit due to the crisis. As those people couldn't afford to stay at home, they were putting their lives at risk to find a way to feed themselves and their families. Everywhere, it was a struggle to survive.

Let's help our fellow human beings so they can weather the storm, stay afloat while also keeping others safe. Please consider donating at viga.org
