This is an early version of a track I am working on. I decided to limit myself to the same device palette as Reason Free (but I oopsied and used M-Class EQ). I wanted to really know how those limits would feel and to prove to those announcing so loudly that it would be useless, they do not really speak for all - or me at least.
Ok, I had to revise a few ways I have been doing things, but once I had my head around those differences, I also did things in ways I normally would not. I opened some DAW doors, necessity being the mother of invention and all that.
The piece is about taking a stand when expectation says one should do it one way, but you know that to be true you need to stay more true to yourself. This comes out in the swap to eighth triplets. This transition feels like a bit of a battle. In the end, the decision is to honor myself and my needs (after all, I wake up with me). I settled on a Goth feel early on. Triplets are not how Doktor Avalanche did it, but I am not the good doctor. So triplets...
