Filmed Saturday Oct 2, 20201, this video shows a trip around Matiu Somes island, in an offshore wind.


Note how calm the water is as we leave and arrive on shore, compared to the conditions during the crossing to and from the island.


This is a potentially dangerous situation, which has caught out paddlers and caused rescue operations to be launched many times before.
