The British Gold Sovereign is a good option for both coin collectors and gold coin stackers alike. The many years, varieties, mint marks and monarchs offer many options for collectors. The abundance of circulated lower quality British Gold Sovereign coins still available today also makes these coins a lower cost option for stacking gold. Demand for these coins is lower than that of modern-day bullion gold coins like the American Gold Eagle or Candian Gold Maple Leaf coins. This is due to the new factor of fractional gold coin. Also, the modern-day security features available today provide more assurance of authenticity to stackers. One further consideration is that many stackers are not fully aware of these coins as an option. In this video I give a brief overview on the history of the coin.
