Welcome to the ST40 control room. Otto Asunta, our Experiments Chief, gives a behind-the-scenes look at how we run fusion experiments at Tokamak Energy.

As the highest-field spherical tokamak in the world, ST40 is helping us build the data and expertise needed to scale up to commercial fusion. This isn’t future ambition - it’s work happening every day at our Oxfordshire headquarters.

In this video, Otto talks through a typical plasma pulse, from formation using merging compression coils, to shaping and sustaining the plasma.
We typically run around 20 high-quality pulses a day. Every pulse adds to our understanding of plasma behaviour and brings us closer to fusion energy.
