----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate is one of those games that has been on my radar since it's initial showcase back when Acclaim had a stream announcing their return. This is the perfect mix of SSX and Jet Set Radio (JSR).
The cel shaded graphics and DnB music hooked me right away. It's presentation screams Y2K and if I'm being honest I love that art style so much. HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate has a lot of loved poured into it from their developers Wabisabi design. Acclaim made the right choice publishing this one.
I want to preface with saying that I've never been good at snowboarding games but that never stopped me from enjoying them. The characters feel extremely floaty which is not a bad thing. My real issue with the current build is that the window for grinding is extremely small. You have to be pin point when landing on a rail. Also, the smallest hitch on a ramp will cause you to crash and lose all momentum. Lastly, it's a bit hard to determine what position the character will be in when I let go of a rotating trick and I usually just end up biffing it.
All that did not take away from the amazing art direction this game has and the solid gameplay loop. I didn't want to show of too much. There were more levels to showcase but not all of them are finished. The ones that are though have so much life to them. Some have aliens with Sasquatches in the back ground. The last level I showcase has a kaiju just wrecking the city while you're on a downhill race.
This one is worth the wait and thanks again to Acclaim for giving an early preview build
