In light of recent events pertaining to the impending fate of America’s flagship, I decided to whip up my own tribute to one of my firm favorites when it comes to ships. SS United States is my top favorite American vessel, and I’ve been rooting for her survival for nearly 7 years. But now that it seems she will be reefed near Destin, Florida come 2026 (should this notion be unchallenged…), I have curated this tribute for this magnificent vessel who has withstood the test of time and continues to impress people with her big move across the ocean this year.
She proved one final thing to the world, she could still float without collapsing into dust or rolling over. If she had her propellers and shafts reconnected she’d be prowling through these waters no problem, one could say.
Unfortunate as the future may seem for this ship, she shall be rewarded in time. And you, my friends, can provide that reward. Should they be successful, United States will indeed be rewarded.
