“I was passionate (fire and flame) about becoming a missionary with a clear goal in mind. I was determined to become a missionary doctor and do something that only women can do for women in need.”

Driven by this vision, Tyrolean doctor Dr. Anna Dengel founded the Medical Mission Sisters in 1925.
Our constitution, "A Society Called to Mission,” guides our aspirations for our life and mission worldwide. Driven by God, who is present in our hearts and in all created life, and by the spirit of Jesus, we are called to be a healing presence in the heart of a wounded world, to bear witness to the integrity of all creation, and to build a world in which the gifts of all people, all cultures, and all creation are recognized and celebrated.
