Forget Shockwhale! I know the Cyberworld line isn’t for everybody, but I have to give the designers credit for taking a big swing with this one.
How often do you see Soundwave reimagined as a giant cybernetic squid monster thing? That’s the kind of creativity I love seeing. It’s just a fun “what if?” that somehow still feels like Soundwave.
The figure itself is simple, as you’d expect from a line aimed at younger collectors. Articulation and transformation are meh, and longtime collectors looking for a highly detailed masterpiece probably won’t find it here.
But honestly, that’s not the point. This is just a fun toy with a completely unexpected take on one of Transformers’ most recognizable characters. Sometimes it’s nice to see Hasbro step outside the usual formulas and try something that makes you stop and say, “That’s actually pretty cool.”
