We encountered this large school (or shoal or squad, depending on your preference) of squid in the genus Illex while exploring Pourtalès Terrace, about 30 miles south of the Florida Keys. This was one of many such schools we encountered during the 2019 Southeastern U.S. Deep-sea Exploration dive. Mesmerizing, isn't it?
