Absolutely HONORED to have had opportunity to rework "Words That Rhyme With Different, Etc." for the 10-year remaster & deluxe release of Demon Daze by @realsportsboys . The very first time I flew up to Boston to record stuff with aviations and my Blumen split EP with James's With a Smile solo project, Sean (Duffy) engineered the session, so after crossing paths with the boys over the years (shows, weddings, meetings by the green light at the end of Daisy's dock), it has been so lovely to get a chance to collab properly.

I'll be the first to admit I was a little APPREHENSIVE (trepidatious even) - I've done a ton of mathrock transcribing & arranging but not much experience with the sort of raw honesty that the more midwest emo scene embodies. But I checked in with Kris along the way as my arrangement took shape and received nothing but support. Also SUPER CONVENIENT that the main riff fits so nicely on piano, good base to build on.

We decided to knock the tempo down a few bpm from the original, but left it in the original key and I tried to include a bunch of Easter egg references to the original instrumental (piano solo rhythm matches the drum fills of the OG, same guitar lead line for the outro despite the repeated notes being annoying on piano 😉, etc.).
