Apparently the red one is not a red-green macaw but a scarlet macaw! The more you know
Sooo in snapshot 17w13a the developers decided to add a new animal to Minecraft, which I'm happy to say are parrots! After chickens its the second bird to be featured in the game. Let's hope for huge Moa birds that you can mount and fly next? (K I know the Moa were flightless but still)
Anyway, apparently these little cuties can be tamed with cookies (a reference to Polly wants a cracker) which makes them sit on your shoulders! They don't have much of a practical use, however they do imitate other mobs noises so that's pretty neat. They also drop feathers if they're murdered.
Like I mentioned in the video, I decided to follow the Minecraft design pretty closely so they're not meant to be realistic recreations of different species of parrots. Hence the tufts! Which are quite adorable in my opinion, but they're sadly not a feature on most of these species in real life. Also if anyone knows the particular species of what I'm guessing is an Amazon parrot the green one is based off of feel free to let me know!
