Well, I haven't done a SpongeBob related longplay for the channel in a while, so I decided to play another licensed SpongeBob video game after a few years. SpongeBob's Truth or Square for the Xbox 360, released in 2009! I originally played it on the Nintendo Wii on USB Loader GX since I don't think I had money to buy the Xbox 360 version back then, but ever since I got it on Xbox 360 back around 2024, it's definitely my favorite SpongeBob video game on the Xbox 360.
However, despite it being my favorite, I'd hate to say it but, it's definitely the worst out of Heavy Iron's SpongeBob video games, and that's something I've seen others agree on too. The combat and voicelines, especially the voicelines, are repetitive, and it's only like, around 3 hours long! It may not seem like that much, but I mean, I remembered The Movie Game for PS2 being longer, and that came out years prior and I actually enjoyed that more.
Oh yeah, and the story? I would say it's loosely based off of the TV special, and by that I mean, very loosely and more-so it's own original thing. SpongeBob loses the "Krabby Patty Formula" so he has to ask his friends about past memories, and now, here comes the kicker. It turns out that in the end, it was just Mr. Krabs' lottery ticket that he gave to SpongeBob. So all of that worrying for nothing?
So yeah, after revisiting this video game after a while... well, I still liked and enjoyed it, but man it honestly feels more repetitive and frustrating compared to the other SpongeBob video games that came before it. No matter if you're playing it on Xbox 360 or Wii, it's the same video game either way, you just get HD graphics on the Xbox 360 thanks to the HDMI compatibility compared to the AV only on the Wii, which is why I chose to play this version for that and the achievements as well.
