My old bench top was beyond repair, too many holes from using it as a drill support. I wanted a new bench top that was easier for planing and holding materials on the bench. A split top was the answer. I built this bench top from upcycled 2x4s. I show how to add Dog Holes for planing stops or holdfast. The split top allows clamping deep into the bench, securing my work piece.
