This is a perfect entry point to start reading Piers Anthony if either you are intimated by the 44 book series of Xanth or if you want a more serious tone in your science fiction and fantasy.
The first three books in the series are still in print. The last four are set in the same world, but have different main characters. They are not in print, but you should be able to get a good used copy.
