History Never Repeats – The Best of Split Enz is a compilation of hits by New Zealand rock band Split Enz. Initially released in the US in 1987, then in New Zealand and Australia in 1989, the album has been through many variations and reissues over the years.

Split Enz are probably best remembered in the U.S. for their new wave-era singles. History Never Repeats: The Best of Split Enz collects all of the major singles from the band's A&M albums in a single-disc package. For the casual fan, there is no better starting point. The Australian issue is far superior as a career overview, however, as it covers their pre-hit period beginning in the mid-'70s and adds a rare mix of "Late Last Night."
