Presented here are my squidkids. From left to right, their names are Ambra, Anita, and Marina.
So this short animation has a bit of a story behind it. It was originally meant to be a simple test of various things, including volumetric lighting, using different skyboxes on a map (since recompiling a map as big as gm_bigcity was right out due to its massive size), and most importantly, simulating the effects of wind. That’s why Anita’s right tentacle looks a bit weird since it’s supposed to be pressing against her arm. Also, it’s hard to tell, but they’re all breathing as well.
But anyway. This is where all of the non-map assets that I used in that one render came from. You can tell because the poses in the render are slightly modified from the poses in this animation. I spent about 3 and a half days on this and was ready to post it the next day, but that next day was also when FissionMetroid101 came to me and asked if I wanted to do renders for the weapons pack. See, originally, Ambra had the regular Slosher and Marina had the Inkbrush to make up for the lack of the Slosher Deco and Octobrush Nouveau. But now that I had the weapons early, I was able to go back and update the animation to include those new weapons (as well as update Anita’s .52 Gal Deco), prompting me to hold off on releasing it until later. Thankfully, all I had to do was lock the root bones of the old weapons to the new weapons and they snapped right into place when I zeroed them. I’m just glad that the Octobrush Nouveau just so happened to have a place for Marina to hold onto it right where I had her hold onto the Inkbrush.
Speaking of which, the new weapons pack has been out for a few days now. Go download it if you haven't yet. I made some of the promo renders for it.
