For me the appeal of new software and hardware is where does it take me, and how soon do I board that journey? Well, Spitfire's new Polaris ensemble from all round nice guy electronic music pioneer Brian Transeau, AKA BT, almost immediately offered me a trip through a new imaginary sonic soundscape. It features contaminated synths, crunchy strings, and beautifully murky granular fields, and a hands on approach that was very rewarding. I loved the combination of the synthetic world and the orchestral in a simple, fluid way. I wrote two new pieces within an hour, and for that’s praise enough for Solaris! It's not exclusively about hardware here you know 😀
