Lorna Collins bumped her head after falling off a horse during a championship competition and it killed her. After coming out of a coma, she survived to experience psychosis and over twenty years in and out of psychiatric hospitals. She embraced creativity while at the hospital, creating drawing and paintings that helped convey her experiences to the doctors in order to receive more accurate treatments and diagnoses. Her brain was damaged and in some ways better than ever as she somehow completed undergraduate study in one year. She went on to graduate study at Cambridge and ultimately achieved her PhD. She has written many book, produced lots of art, completed a Ted Talk - see below - and is currently producing a full length documentary about her life.
